There
are places in which time seems to stand still... places where a sense
of history emerges clear and stong from a scenery which arouses great emotions.
The colours, light, and climate are magical. Passing through the silvery
olive groves, in the rolling fields a few kilometers from the coast between
Trapani and Marsala, and looking towards the sea, one can almost imagine seeing
ancient Hellenic boats sailing in the breeze, to trade in local products; in particular
the pure, perfumed oil from the sun-kissed Sicilian hills which lead down to the
Mediterranean.

And yet, so much has changed since then!
Here, at 110 m above sea level, is the farm "Azienda
Agricola Terre di Shemir", which in Arab means Misil - place
- owned by Shemir, the name is a homage to the place where the farm
is situated in the village of Guarrato, Trapani, a place once inhabited by the
Arabs. The farm has a clear aim: to produce and sell the best products that this
corner of Sicily, an area known since ancient times to the Greeks, Phonecians
and Arabs, has to offer. The Sicilian land yields products of extraordinary
quality, it is a generous land to those who love it. The land, the climate,
the nearby sea, the low yield per hectare, the excellent quality wood all contribuite
to the production of great wines. The "Azienda Terre di
Shemir" extends over thirty hectares of land, where about 3000 fine olive
trees grow: Biancolilla, Cerasuola and Nocellara del Belice have been among the
most appreciated species of tree since ancient times; from these trees the famous
Extra Virgin di Olive Oil U Trappitu is produced. Moreover,
here eight hectares are dedicated to modern vineyards of Nero dAvola,
Syrah and Petit Verdot. |
